2020 will be remembered as the year that Black Lives Matter resurfaced from 2016, and people protested in the streets for months on end to prove that we are all sick of police violence against black people. I advocated, I signed petitions, I had the hard conversations, and yet here I am writing this letter to point out that this movement doesn’t give a shit about anti-semitism. Jews don’t fit into the movement of ending hate toward minorities, they are seen as white people that are part of the original problem.

The same people on my instagram who are screaming at homeless people that they are racist are the same ones who bullied me in middle and high school for being Jewish. I remember them ripping hair out of my head, I remember them throwing rocks at me, I remember the pennies thrown at me, I remember the swastikas carved into my lockers and desks. I remember all of this, and it doesn’t surprise me that they have not changed, they just got educated on violence against black people. The hypocrisy is loud and clear, they advocate for minorities, but God forbid they educate themselves on the people that they committed violence against.

I wont stop advocating for Black Lives Matter, that would be ignorant and counter intuitive to demand a group of people that are hurting to speak out for another group. This is a call out to the people who acted violently against me, defended the people who hurt me — this is your moment to change. Get educated on the people that you hate. Jews have been a part of the anti-slavery movement, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Black Lives Matter movement from the beginning. We are not your enemy, and you need to educate yourself on our history that so clearly lines up with yours. We advocate for justice because we live injustices.

Popular television shows like South Park, Family guy, and American Dad all showed that Jews were wealthy controllers of the world who are evil and deserve hate. I remember in college having a man who served in the US Army tell me that Jews were pedophiles; I had a professor say to a classroom full of students that Jews didn’t care if anyone died. THESE MICRO-AGGRESSIONS ARE UNACCEPTABLE. Your ignorance is unacceptable. Perpetuating stupidity only invalidates what you stand for. Your pedestal of social justice is decaying with your silence, and your own injustices will be broadcasted.

If you don’t stand for the end of hatred and violence for EVERYONE, you stand for no one.
