Beach Walks and Other Morning Routines

Since moving back to Santa Cruz from Sacramento, I have been taking advantage of walking the beach every morning and listening to a podcast. On these walks I am able to feel more productive because half of my workout is already done, and I am able to enjoy the beauty of the beach without people on it. Some days I will sit by the rocks and watch surfers, other days I look around at the low tide and birds fishing for breakfast.

After my morning walk, I de-sand and work out, usually for 10 or 15 minutes. With everything else in my world, it is so important to exercise first thing, otherwise, I will get to the end of my days and feel like garbage for being too tired to work out. I also take this time to stretch and listen to an album or playlist that I love. Currently, I have listened to Mac Miller’s albums “Swimming” and “Circles”, as well as the Strokes on shuffle.

Then, I make coffee with my Nespresso. I don’t talk about kitchen gadgets often because it always seems like a bougey white woman brag to say “my nespresso”, but I saved up and found it on sale, and I am in love — so you can fight me if you don’t like it. I will usually sip my coffee while I read for my classes or watch youtube videos from German influencers with my same first name.

Once this process is done, I am ready to start my day… Usually.
